CHEMBOOK PRIVACY POLICY
Version 2026-07-31
Publisher: Qemica Lab, an independent software developer based in the
Republic of Korea ("we").
Contact: feedback.qemica@gmail.com · We are a one-person operation and
have not appointed a separate data protection officer. Email is our
contact channel; we publish no postal address.
This policy covers the Chembook mobile application. It does NOT cover the
Qemica desktop workbench, which is a separate product with its own policy
at /legal/privacy.
1. SUMMARY
Chembook does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
The app needs no account, no sign-in, and no network connection to
function. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no
crash reporting, and no third-party SDK that observes your use of
the app.
We have declared "Data Not Collected" on the App Store, and the
privacy manifest shipped inside the app says the same thing.
2. WHAT THE APP STORES ON YOUR DEVICE
Chembook saves a small amount of data locally, inside the app's own
private storage on your device. It is never uploaded anywhere, and
we have no way to read it. This includes:
- Study progress, bookmarks, recent searches, and quiz results.
- App preferences (interface scale, reduced motion, haptics).
- A cached flag recording whether you own the Premium upgrade.
You can erase all of it at any time from Settings > Reset all data,
or by deleting the app. Deleting the app removes this data from your
device; it does not cancel a purchase (see Section 4).
3. NETWORK USE
The app itself makes no network requests. Every reaction, spectrum,
orbital, structure and reference table ships inside the download and
is read from local storage.
The only network activity is the purchase and purchase-restore flow
in Section 4, which is performed by the operating system's own store
services, not by Chembook.
4. PURCHASES
Chembook offers one optional, one-time in-app purchase ("Premium")
that unlocks additional content already included in the download.
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google
(Google Play). Chembook never sees or stores your payment details,
your store account identity, or your purchase history. Whether you
currently own the purchase is checked on-device through the
platform's own store APIs.
Apple and Google handle that transaction under their own privacy
policies, which we do not control:
- Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
To restore a previous purchase on a new device or after
reinstalling, use Restore Purchases on the Premium screen.
5. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Chembook is an educational tool suitable for all ages and is rated
4+. Because it collects no personal data at all, it does not
knowingly collect information from children, and there is nothing
for a parent or guardian to request the deletion of. Any data the
app has written is on the device and is removed with the app.
6. YOUR RIGHTS
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights of
access, correction, deletion, and portability over personal data a
company holds about you.
We hold none. There is no account, no server, and no database in
which you appear, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct,
export, or erase. The data described in Section 2 is under your own
control on your own device.
We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not
collect any.
7. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this
URL with a new version date. Material changes will also be noted in
the app's release notes.
Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect changes other
than clarifications and updates to reflect new features.
